  1. Insert toothpick into egg and ball to use as a handle while you paint.  Paint both pieces black. Pick the toothpicks into a scrap piece of foam to dry.
  2. Cut a 12” piece of both large and small soft net.  Layer large net on top of small net and set aside.  Cut a 9” piece of both large and small soft net.  Layer large on top of the small net again.  Center the 9” pieces on top of the 12” pieces.
  3. Glue a toothpick about 1” into the narrow end of the egg. Pinch and gather the pieces of net together at the center.  Make small even pleats across the center to create more uniform wings.  Thread the pleated net onto the toothpick.  Glue the ball onto the other end of the toothpick, sandwiching the net between the foam parts.
  4. Cut chenille stems in half.  You should have four, two-bump sections.  Fold each section in half.  Glue three folded stems into the bottom of the egg for legs and one into the ball for antenna.  Glue eyes and jewel in place as shown.
