  • FloraCraft Products:
  • STYROFOAM™ Brand Foam:
  • One 2” Ball (head)
  • One 3” Egg (Abdomen)
  • Ten Black Chenille Stems
  • Black Acrylic Paint
  • White Tacky Glue
  • Wire Cutters (to cut chenille stems)
  1. Paint the Styrofoam parts black and let dry.
  2. Assemble the head and body by firmly pressing the head to the wide end of the egg to make an indent in the foam. To link the parts together; cut a 1 ½” piece stem and push one end into each part where they meet and push the head onto the body. Glue can be added to the ends of the stem before you insert them for added support.
  3. To make the legs, bend eight of the chenille stems in half, make a twist about 2/3 of the way up from the fold for the knee joint. Twist the loose ends together and push the legs four on each side into the bottom portion of the head close to where the head meets the body.
  4. To make the eyes; cut eight 1” pieces of stem and push them into the top of the head near the front. Most spiders’ eyes are arranged in two rows of four eyes.
  5. To make the fangs; cut two 1 ½” pieces stem and push them into the front of the face about ¼” apart, cut two 2” pieces stem and push one on either side of the fangs. These are called the pedipalps, they aide in chewing food and in males there are reproductive organs in the ends.
