Paint Brush: 1” and ½” Flat
Stencil Spouncer: ¾”

Instructions

  1. Cut an 18”x3” piece from the foam sheet.  Use the remaining 18”x7” piece to cut the individual squares for your trees.  One 8”x8”, one 9”x4” and one 6”x6”.  Save the small 3”x6” leftover foam square to attach later for the stand.
  2. Paint the 18”x3” and the 9”x4” foam squares white.   Paint the wood letters white.  Paint the 8”x8” foam square red.  Paint the 6”x6” square green.  Let the parts dry completely.
  3. Draw the triangle tree shapes onto the squares as shown using the fabric paint colors.  Let dry.  Fill in the trees with the acrylic paints or allow the background color of the foam square to show thru.  Let dry.  Use the fabric paints to decorate the trees.  Let dry.
  4. Center a 22” length of the red 5” burlap over the 18”x3” piece of foam.  Glue the ends of the burlap to the edges of the foam piece.  Use the stencil spouncer and the red paint to apply red dots randomly to the front of the burlap covered foam piece.  Apply heavy enough coverage to allow the paint to go thru the burlap to cover the painted white foam underneath.  Let dry.  Glue the letters in place.
  5. Cut small squares of natural burlap and glue under the trees for tree trunks.  Glue buttons to the trunks.  Glue the three tree squares together side by side with the bottoms even to each other.  Glue the three tree squares to the top edge of the burlap wrapped foam piece.  Insert toothpicks between the parts for a more secure hold.
  6. Glue the 3”x6” leftover foam square to the bottom back of the sign for a stand.  Insert toothpicks between the parts for a more secure hold.
