Materials: stripey-straw-trees

FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam:
Cones, two 2 7/8″ x 5 7/8″ and one 3 7/8″ x 8 7/8″

Other Materials:
Paper straws, sixteen of each: Red stripe; green stripe; and red and green stripe
Jingle bells, 30 mm: Two glittered green and one glittered red
Glass cake pedestal (for display)
Curling ribbon, red and green (for display)

Tools:
Pencil
ruler
rubber band
serrated knife
glue gun & glue sticks

Instructions:

  1. For shortest tree, use serrated knife to cut 7/8″ off bottom of one 5 7/8″ cone so that it is 5″ tall. (Tip: To make the cut straight, mark the distance with a pencil, wrap a rubber band around the cone and adjust until straight. Then cut right along side the rubber band.)
  2. Measure, mark and cut with scissors sixteen green stripe straws to 5″ long. Position green straws all around shortest cone, with straws touching at top and evenly spaced at bottom. Use rubber band to hold at top. Then glue each one in place by stretching rubber band with one straw and applying dot of glue underneath top and bottom of straw. Repeat with all straws on that cone.
  3. Similarly, measure, mark and cut sixteen red and green stripe straws to 5 7/8″ and glue to 5 7/8″ tall cone.
  4. For tallest tree, use rubber band technique to trim off bottom of remaining cone so that it is 7 3/4″ tall. Leave red stripe straws full length (7 3/4″ long) and glue to cone
  5. Glue jingle bells to tops of trees. Set trees on cake pedestal. Cut lengths of curling ribbon and slide along scissors to curl. Drape ribbon around trees.
