- Brush loose bits of foam off surface before needle felting.
- Rub knife with candle wax to making cutting foam easier.
- When needle felting foam pieces be careful of needle coming through piece.
- Always work with a larger foam surface under each piece.
Instructions
- Making the head and body. Prepare foam by flattening wider end of egg for bottom and one side of 1 ½” ball for head by pressing with fingers. Insert toothpick between flat side of head and narrow end of egg body. Press pieces firmly together.
- Needle felting the bunny. Cover head and body loosely with natural wool wisps adding extra when needed. Felt around area where head is joined to body creating neck. Continue felting body.
- Making the tail. Felt 1-1/2″ ball for tail. Insert toothpick into tail. Insert into center back of body to balance bunny when standing.
- Making the ears. Needle felt a 5″ square flat piece of natural wool on foam pad. Cut out two ears using pattern from the piece of natural. Blush inside of ears gently. Needle felt end of ears to top of head curving the ends slightly.
- Making the arms. Make two small ovals of natural wool approximately 2 ½” long for arms. Place one on either side of body beginning where head and neck join. Needle felt along edges leaving the center of oval soft and puffy. Make two small balls of pink wool and add one to end of each arm for mittens. Needle felt around edges leaving center soft and puffy.
- Finishing the bunny. Place mold with smaller snowflake pattern on lower right of body. Insert thin strands of pink wool and needle felt.
- Making the snowflake sucker. Cover foam disc with natural wool wisps and needle felt both sides and edges. Place mold with large snowflake centered on disc. Use pink wool and needle felt snowflake. Use small circle mold pattern to needle felt pink dots around main snowflake.
- Finishing the snowflake sucker. Cut skewer to 8″ in length. Paint ivory. Let dry. Insert end of skewer 1″ into center of disc edge.
- Making the hat. Cut a hat 7 ½” x 3″ from pink piece. Press both long sides of hat piece over ¾” to make hat 1 ½” wide. With three strands of floss embroider french knots randomly on hat.
- Making the scarf. Cut scarf piece 2″ x 16″ from pink felt. Fringe ends of scarf 1” in length. Use snowflake mold to needle felt small natural dots randomly on scarf.
- Finishing the bunny. Blush cheeks. Wrap hat around head and glue at back or pin. Tie scarf around neck. Press black brads into head for eyes. Press pink brad into place for nose. Insert lower end of skewer through mitten into body.
