Supplies

FloraCraft® Brand Products:
Make It: Fun®: FloraCraft® Foam:
Disc, 15/16″ x 5 7/8″
Cone, 2 7/8″ x 5 7/8″
Design It:® Foam Cutter

4 sheets of 12″ x 12″ scrapbooking paper, coordinating brightly-colored papers
All purpose glue stick (Elmer’s® CraftBond®)

X-ACTO® Tools:
9″ paper trimmer
8″ stainless steel scissors
12″ metal ruler

Pencil
Two toothpicks
Glue gun and glue sticks

Instructions

  1. Use Foam Cutter to trim off 2″ on narrow end of STYROFOAM™ Cone. (Save piece for another project.)
  2. Determine which paper to use for each: top of disc, disc edge, cone and cupcake wrapper. Use pencil to trace disc onto paper chosen for top. Use scissors to cut out.
  3. Apply generous amount of all purpose glue stick to disc and press paper circle in place.
  4. Use ruler and pencil to measure and mark two 1″ wide strips from paper chosen for disc edge. Cut with paper trimmer. Apply glue stick to disc edge and wrap first strip around it. Use second strip to piece, in order to finish covering disc edge. Trim where strips meet.
  5. Wrap paper chosen for cone, around cone and hold. Mark where paper overlaps, in order to later cut a straight vertical line up cone – and while still holding, reach inside with pencil and trace all along top and bottom of cone onto paper. Release paper and cut straight line, then top and bottom trim lines using trimmer or scissors. Re-wrap around cone, double check fit and trim as needed. Apply glue stick to cone and press paper in place.
  6. To assemble, insert toothpicks into top of cone and center disc on top. (Note: Push excess toothpick down into cone instead of having it poke up through top of disc.) Separate, apply hot glue and replace back onto toothpicks.
  7. For cupcake wrapper, cut 2 1/2″ x 12″ long strip from chosen paper. If chevron paper, trim top edge along chevron to create zig-zag. Or simply free-hand cut zig-zag, scallops or swerves as desired. Wrap around cupcake to check size. Slightly overlap and glue together ends of strip. (Note: If cupcake is larger, cut a second strip and piece it.)
  8. Set cupcake on holder and set wrapper in place. For a party, make one cupcake holder / wrapper per party guest!
