Sheet moss, green
Fine line black marker
Craft knife
Old newspapers
Large cardboard box (for spraying)
Glue gun and glue sticks

  1. One block is used for “LIFE” letters and border pieces. Set the other aside. Use ruler and marker to measure and mark: three 1 1/2″ wide x 17 15/16″ strips. Mark one of them to be cut in half at (almost) 9″ long each. In the remaining space, use ruler to draw 1 1/2″ wide x 6″ tall letters to spell “LIFE”.
  2. Use craft knife and ruler to score all lines. Then use Foam Cutter to completely cut through lines, keeping blade straight up and down, so that edges are straight.
  3. In a well-ventilated, newspaper-covered area (inside cardboard box) spray all sides of all pieces and other large block with two coats Basil and let dry.
  4. Horizontally, lay large block down flat, on work surface. Lay two long border pieces on top of block, at top and bottom, creating a 1″ wide border. Place shorter pieces on top, along each side. Hot glue in place. Arrange and glue letters on block, evenly spaced inside borders.
  5. Use Floral Shears to cut two 18 1/2″ and two 11 1/2″ lengths moss roll. Hot glue to outside edges of panel. (Tip: When cutting, trim ends irregularly so that they’ll blend at the corners.)
  6. Gently pull apart sheet moss into pieces and hot glue all along top edge of border, blending in with moss roll edges. Similarly, glue sheet moss to tops of letters.
  7. Fill in areas all around letters with pebbles, gluing in place as you go. Set panel on a surface. (Due to weight, do not hang.)
