Decorative Mesh, 6″ wide, 5 yds., White
Four Butterfly Picks, 4.5″ x 2.25″, White
Wire Cutter
Floral Shears
Floral Wire
Floral Tape
Floral Picks, 6″ length

3 light green Hydrangea (with leaves and stems)
Glue gun and glue sticks

  1. Gather together three Hydrangeas and bind stems about 6″ down from flower heads. Use Wire Cutter to trim stems 8″ below wire binding. (Note: If stems are thick, cut one at a time. You may need to crimp with Wire Cutter and then bend back and forth to snap apart.) Use Floral Tape to cover bound area as follows: Starting at top, press end of tape (feeding off roll) slightly above Floral Wire and stretch tape while wrapping it around stems. Continue tightly wrapping and overlapping each tape wrap, by turning stems and working down, stopping about 2″ from stem ends. Tear away roll of tape.
  2. To wrap bouquet stem with Decorative Mesh, use Floral Shears to cut 1 yd. length Mesh. Fold Mesh in half lengthwise and then in half lengthwise, again, holding middle of length. (Note: Ends will spring loose from folds but hold onto middle.) Starting at base of flowers, wrap Mesh around taped stem, crossing at front and going to back, pulling tightly. Continue gathering Mesh in hands and criss-crossing back to front, repeatedly until you reach end of Floral Tape. Tie a tight knot, trim ends and tuck back under wraps. Hot glue to hold as needed.
  3. To make Mesh poufs on Floral Picks:  Cut fourteen 10″ lengths of white mesh. Fold one length in half, with finished edges together. Fold in half the opposite way and roll/scrunch raw edges at bottom, to gather. Tightly secure to Floral Pick with Wire. Wrap six of the “pouf-picks”  with Floral Tape. With remaining eight,  make them longer by using wire of another pick to attach to end of first. Then cover entire length with Floral Tape.
  4. Insert six short poufs-picks into base of bouquet, tucking ends down in among Hydrangea stems.  Randomly insert remaining eight, all over arrangement, tucking in between stems and spot hot gluing to hold.
  5. Hot glue butterfly pick into top of bouquet.
