Instructions

  1. For each ghost, refer to the materials list for measurements. (Note: If making all three ghosts, make sizes more proportionate by trimming about 1″ off the top of the large cone only.) For each, use Foam Cutter to cut a hole in Foam Ball (head) to fit onto Foam Cone (body). Remove the head, insert tacky glue into the hole, and re-attach the body. Set aside.
  2. Tear all edges of muslin to fray. In a well-ventilated, newspaper-covered area (inside box), evenly spray one side of each piece of muslin with ColorTex spray texture. Let dry.
  3. To drape each ghost, find the middle of sprayed muslin (folding into fourths, pinching the center, and reopening.) Place center on top of the head, draping over the body—evenly distributed folds. For eyes (and to hold muslin in place), insert two brads halfway down on the head, going through the fabric and into Foam Ball. To secure, remove, apply glue and replace brads.
  4. For large ghost arms, measure 9″ (medium ghost 6″; small ghost 4″) below the top of the head and reach in between folds on the sides of the body. (Note: Work on outside of muslin, not up underneath it.) Use a craft knife to make a small “X” through the fabric. Insert stick at a 45-degree angle on each side of the ghost, going through muslin and into the cone. To secure, remove sticks, apply glue and replace.
  5. Drape cheesecloth around ghost arms (like a shawl), allowing raw edges to show. To display, arrange using pumpkin and spiders to embellish. Attach spiders with tacky glue.
