Instructions:

  1. Cut out the top and bottom corner patterns. (Note that the patterns are the “negative” areas that will be cut away from the Foam Block.) Align the edges of the top corner pattern onto the top left corner of the Foam Block and lightly trace with marker. Flip over the pattern to align it with the top right corner edges of the Foam Block and trace. Similarly, trace the bottom corner pattern onto the left corner of the Foam Block, flip and trace the pattern onto the right corner of the Foam Block.
  2. On the cutting mat, use a serrated knife to cut along the lines. (Note: Cut through the Foam with several passes of the knife, keeping it perpendicular to the Foam so that the edges are straight.)
  3. To smooth and slightly round all edges/corners, press Foam edge down onto table with even pressure as you rotate and smooth. Use the Foam scraps to smooth and round the edges in the small detail areas at the top.
  4. In a well-ventilated, newspaper-covered area (inside box) lightly spray the Foam jar from the edges so that they will be darker than the surface. Spray as many coats as desired to achieve the value you want, but keep the edges darker than the inside of the board for a dimensional effect. Let dry.
  5. Carefully wrap a 2 yd. length of jute twice around the “neck” of the jar and tie a bow on the right side. Use a marker to write “Notes ‘n Stuff” or personalize the tag. Slide it onto one tail of the bow and apply a dot of hot glue on the back to hold it in place as shown.
  6. Hot glue the thumb tacks on the backs of the berries to use as push pins. To create a hanger loop, separate a paper clip about 1/2″. On the top back of the Foam jar board, insert the small end of the paperclip up into the Foam, Glue if needed to hold.
