Instructions

  1. Lightly sand fruit so that glued papers will adhere. Plan for fruit to be covered as follows: Pear – brown bag (kraft paper); Apple – dictionary; and Orange – atlas map. Gently scrunch papers to wrinkle. Then open up and tear into 1 – 1 1/2″ square (approximately) pieces.
  2. In container, mix 1 part glue to 1 part water. To decoupage, use paint brush to apply glue mixture to area on fruit. Then press paper piece in place. Brush over paper with glue mixture. Continue applying paper pieces and covering with glue mixture until fruit pieces are totally covered. Allow to dry on piece of same paper for each fruit. (Avoid placing them on plastic, since it can make the contact areas shiny.) Let dry.
  3. To antique fruit, apply chalk ink. (Note: Apply ink along torn edges and then blend out with fingers or paper towel.) Let dry.
  4. Stack one Wreath on top of the other, aligning edges and apply glue stick between layers. Cut Burlap Ribbon into two 2 1/4 yd. lengths. Hot glue one end of one length to back of Wreath unit. Then wrap around Wreath unit, overlapping approx. 3/4″ with each wrap. When first Burlap Ribbon length runs out, continue on with second length until reaching the beginning. Trim off any extra and hot glue on back.
  5. Apply glue stick to top of Disc. Cover surface with Burlap Garland, and trim with Floral Shears, leaving 1/4″ edge Burlap beyond edge of Disc. all around. Then, coming up from bottom, with Burlap side of Disc up, push Disc into Wreath unit until Disc and bottom of Wreath Unit are even. (Note: This leaves a 3/4″ recessed area on the top to hold the fruit. Set fruit inside.
  6. Tear five 2″ – 3″ leaf shapes from handmade paper and scrunch to wrinkle. Open slightly and hot glue one end of one leaf to the Apple and another to the Pear. Scatter the others in the Wreath-bowl.
