Spray color, Aspen Yellow (Design Master® Color Tool®)
Clear Finish spray, gloss (Design Master®)
Amaretto chalking ink (Quick Quotes)
Sandwich pick
Tacky glue (Elmer’s® CraftBond™)
-12″ metal ruler
-8″ scissors
Glue gun and glue sticks
Paper plate
Copy paper
Permanent fine line marker
Old newspapers

  1. For each placecard, use pencil and ruler to mark 5 1/2″ length on STYROFOAM™ rod. Use Design It:® Foam Cutter to cut. To make corn shape, use Foam Cutter to taper one end of STYROFOAM™ rod, starting about 1″ from end, trimming to a 1/4″ diameter point. Press and roll tapered end on table to evenly smooth. Press and roll other end to slightly round.
  2. In well-ventilated, newspaper-covered area, spray corn with Aspen Yellow. Let dry.
  3. On paper plate, pour about 1 teaspoonful of each color beads, adjusting the mixture to get nice mixture.
  4. Spread a generous amount of tacky glue on the top (lengthwise) half of corn. Roll glued area in beads and use hand to press beads into glue. Set aside to dry. (Note: To save on beads, there is no need to cover bottom (lengthwise) half of corn, since husks will cover bottom.) When dry, spray beaded-area with gloss spray finish to more permanently secure.
  5. For husk pattern, draw 2 1/2″ x 9″ rectangle on copy paper. On one short end, sketch a tapered point for husk shape and cut out. Trace and cut four husks from handmade paper.  With Amaretto chalking ink, lightly rub edges of husks for added definition.
  6. To attach one husk, hand-gather wide end and use pencil to push gathers into center of rounded end of corn. Repeat to attach other husks, slightly overlapping each. Arrange husks around corn, covering unbeaded area and use glue gun to spot glue in place.
  7. For place card, cut 1 3/4″ x 2 1/2″ piece brown stripe and 1 1/2″ x 2 1/4″ polka dot paper. Using tacky glue, center mount polka dot on stripe paper. Use glue gun to attach rounded end of sandwich pick to back of card. Use marker to write name on card. Refer to photo and insert pick into corn. Display just above the table setting.
