STYROFOAMâ„¢ Brand Foam:
-One – Wreath 1-3/16″ x 11-7/8″
6 – Chipboard Scrolls*
20 – Chipboard Teardrops*
Spray Paint: one can each of Basil, Cinnabar, Super Silver, Moss Green*
One – Silver Glitter Spray
Glue for Glitter
Red Fashion Glitter*
Heavy cardboard or chipboard, 4″ x 16″
Paper clip for hanger
Glue gun & glue sticks
Serrated knife or Foam Cutter or Craft knife
Cutting mat


  1. Using a serrated knife, distress top surface of wreath by randomly making cut and slits in Styrofoam.
  2. In a well-ventilated area, protect work surface with newspapers. Following manufacturer’s instructions, lightly spray all parts of wreath with Basil. Use Moss Green to darken outside edges. Let dry.
  3. Spray one side of chipboard pieces Super Silver. Let dry. Then lightly spray all pieces with Silver Glitter Spray. Let dry.
  4. Trace outline of cardinal pattern onto heavy cardboard or chipboard, cut out with craft knife and cutting mat. Then spray with Cinnabar. Let dry. Then apply glitter glue and add red glitter to both sides of bird. Shake off excess glitter.
  5. Bend paper clip and insert into back of wreath for hanger, secure with glue gun.
  6. Plan arrangement of chipboard pieces and cardinal. Glue into place. Hang on wall.

– Spray wreath using different colors and chipboard pieces for other holidays.
– Use as centerpiece for your holiday table by placing chipboard items upright on wreath rather than flat.

    I love the look of this wreath and woud like to make it. Where are the patterns for the cardinal and silver chipboard pieces?

    Hi Peggy,
    Thank you for your visit here and taking the time to ask about this project. Since your question, I have added the cardinal pattern below the instructions. As for the chipboard scroll and teardrops, these were obtained pre-made from the scrapbook paper designer. Similar designs can be found in the scrapbooking section of the retail craft stores. There are so many more shapes to choose from since the time this wreath was designed.
