Instructions

  1. Pin the template to the top of the disc.  Cut the crescent shape from the top of the disc following the StyroCutter instructions carefully.  Or cut out using a serrated knife.
  2. Cut two squares of the 18” burlap large enough to cover the top and sides of the disc.  Lay the two pieces of burlap together on top of one another.  Pull the burlap tightly around to the back of the disc and pin in place.
  3. Cut two 1.5” circles from the cream burlap ribbon.  Glue the two circles side by side to the center of the disc about 1.5” down from the top.  Glue black buttons to the circles for eyes.  Cut a small triangle from the salmon chevron ribbon and glue between the eyes for the beak.
  4. Cut two wing templates from the brown burlap.  Glue the wings to the sides of the owl.  The top of the wings should be even with the beak.  Glue a button to the top of each wing.  Glue a small jute bow to each button.
  5. Cut 3” lengths of the turquoise chevron ribbon and pin them slightly overlapping across the front of the owl for feathers as shown.
  6. Cut the 2” ball in half; set aside one half for a future project.  Cut the half ball in half again to create the feet.  Glue the salmon chevron ribbon to the rounded side of the feet.  Trim the ribbon around the edges.  Cut a craft stick in half.  Glue a half stick to the back of each foot.  Glue the other half to the back of the disc to secure the feet in place.
  7. Cut a length of chevron ribbon and gather at the center to create a bow.  Secure the center with jute twine.  Glue the bow to the top of the owl.
