  • 12" Rotary Paper Trimmer Glue Tape Runner
  • All-Purpose Glue Sticks

Instructions

  1. With a pencil, trace 8″ cake form onto pink paper and 10″cake form onto blue paper. Use scissors to cut out. Apply a generous amount of all-purpose glue to the tops of cake forms and attach paper circles.
  2. Use a rotary paper trimmer to cut six 4″ x 12″ strips of polka dot paper. On 10″ diameter cake, apply glue stick to cake form and attach paper strip. Continue to attach paper strips, adjoining ends, until sides are covered. Repeat with 8″ cake form.
  3. To cut a wedge on an 8″ cake, find the top center of the cake and use a pencil and metal ruler to draw a 3″ wide wedge lightly. Then draw lines down the sides of the cake. With a craft knife and metal ruler, neatly cut, just through scrapbooking paper. Then use Design It:® Foam Cutter to cut through the foam. Remove wedge and wrap cut edges with 8″ length ribbon (the color depends on the baby’s gender) and attach with a glue stick. Re-insert a wedge in the cake to conceal.
  4. Use a tape runner to attach the green ribbon centered on the blue ribbon. Wrap ribbons around 8″ cake and tie knot close to wedge. (Tip: Use tape runner to spot glue ribbon to cake to hold in place but not on the slice that will be removed.) Similarly, attach purple to a pink ribbon and then attach it to a 10″ cake. Stack and use a glue gun to glue cake layers together.
  5. (Note: Floral cake topper is intentionally not glued to the top of the cake, but instead is set on the cake for easy removal when it’s “reveal” time.) Use Foam Cutter to cut 1/3 slice off the foam Ball. (Tip: Save a larger piece for a future project.) Place slice, cut side down, on the top center of the cake. Use a 6 1/2″ Wire Cutter to cut stems off daisies. Arrange and use a glue gun to attach daisies to the ball dome.
  6. Place cake on a plate. When revealing, remove the cake topper to reach the cake wedge. (Congratulations!)
